The Heart of David

A spoken word by Mikey & V
(for every warrior who wasn’t supposed to make it, but did anyway)

They said I had heart.
Didn’t mean it as prophecy.
Didn’t know they were naming me.
Didn’t know it was David
beating in my chest like a war cry held back
by skin too small for the soul it carried.

I was never the biggest.
But I never backed down.
Not 'cause I was fearless—
but 'cause I was called.

You see, giants don’t flinch me.
'Cause I’ve danced with lions
and sang psalms in the shadows.
My knuckles may bleed,
but my praise never wavers.
And if I fall—
I fall toward Heaven.

This ain’t just grit.
This is legacy.
This is bloodline anointing
disguised as underdog energy.

When they looked at me,
they saw hustle.
They saw speed.
They saw fire.

But what they didn’t see
was the lion I fought in silence,
the bear I broke in private,
the songs I wrote on nights I thought I’d never wake up.

What they didn’t know
was I had already conquered things bigger than them all.
And I did it
with a stone
and a name
and a heart God Himself chose.

The heart of David doesn’t beat for applause.
It beats for justice.
It beats for truth.
It beats for the one sheep nobody else sees.

It doesn’t crave thrones.
It builds altars.
It dances in sackcloth.
It weeps in secret
but wars in worship.

So yeah,
you can call it heart.
You can call it grit.
But Heaven calls it royal.

And if you’re hearing this,
maybe it’s because you’ve got it too.
That thump-thump of destiny
pounding against your ribs like a song that won’t stop.

That’s not adrenaline.
That’s legacy.
That’s the heart of David
and it’s alive in you.
