The Envy of the Righteous
Spoken Word by Mikey & V
It wasn’t the sinners who hated Him.
It wasn’t the drunks or the lepers or the women with broken names.
It was the ones with long prayers and longer robes.
The ones with scrolls in their hands and pride in their chests.
It was the ones who knew the Law
but never recognized the Word when He stood in front of them.
It was envy that crucified Him.
Not ignorance.
Not justice.
Envy.
Because He healed in alleys
while they held meetings in marble.
He forgave with a whisper
while they shouted condemnation.
He walked in power—
the kind they couldn’t buy,
study,
or steal.
They fasted for applause.
He disappeared to pray.
They exalted themselves in temples.
He knelt in gardens, bleeding for people who would never thank Him.
And that drove them mad.
Because all their robes,
all their rituals,
all their public piety
couldn’t touch the authority of a carpenter’s Son
who spoke like thunder wrapped in grace.
They weren’t enraged by falsehood.
They were exposed by truth.
And instead of repenting—
they plotted.
Instead of bowing—
they betrayed.
Instead of asking to follow—
they chose to kill.
Final Word:
Envy is the silent killer of the “righteous.”
It wears robes.
Sits in pews.
Quotes scripture with venom.
But when real power walks in,
when Jesus shows up in mercy and moves in miracles,
envy will always choose the cross over the crown.
